About the Scheme
WINGS – Women INspiring Growth in STEM is a scholarship initiative at IIT Bombay that enables talented young women to pursue education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics without financial constraints limiting their aspirations. Established by Distinguished Alumnus Bharat Desai and his wife, Neerja Sethi, the initiative continues its commitment to advancing women’s participation in STEM education. By reducing financial barriers, WINGS empowers deserving students to access quality education, realise their potential and emerge as future innovators, professionals and leaders.

Eligibility Criteria
Open to female students planning to pursue an undergraduate STEM programme at IIT Bombay for the 2027-28 session. Students should not be availing of any other government tuition grant or scholarship. To continue receiving the scholarship in subsequent years, a student must maintain a CPI of 6.0 or higher.
Gender Requirement
Open to female candidates only.

Professional courses and Undergraduate students at Institute of National Importance institutions studying Engineering & Technology.

Open to applicants of any nationality.

WINGS — Women INspiring Growth in STEM Scholarship Program
Government
The initiative is a collaboration between IIT Bombay and the IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation (IITBHF), created to expand access to, and improve the quality of, educational opportunities for female students in India. The programme is grounded in a simple belief: a world-class education from IIT Bombay can prepare women to become the STEM leaders of tomorrow. The Program is intended to cover tuition expenses for female undergraduate students of IIT Bombay, beginning in the 2027–2028 academic year, excluding those who qualify for other government tuition grants or scholarship programs.
